Alldredge Orchards – Platte City, MO

Alldredge Orchards in Platte City, MO specializes in two things in the fall: apples and pumpkins. Alldredge offers “U-Pick” apples on Saturdays and Sundays in September and October. Pumpkin picking runs Saturdays and Sundays in October. A festive hayride shuttles visitors back and forth to the pumpkin patch Take a little bit of the farm home from the barn store. Stock up on fall favorite like local honey or gorgeous mums. 


Weston Red Barn Farm – Weston, MO

Weston Red Barn Farm not only provides a delightful backdrop for a festive fall photoshoot but educates visitors about the daily operations of a turn of the century farm. Visit during the fall to experience Fall Festival. Fall Festival celebrates the change of the season and the gathering of the harvest. Enjoy a hayride to the large pumpkin patch where you can pick your favorite pumpkin or fill a basket with apples to take home and enjoy. When you are done visiting the on-site attractions and educational stations, visit the Pumpkin Market. The converted 150-year-old mule barn offers fancy gourds, decorative pumpkins, squash and other fall themed items. 



Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead – Overland Park, KS

If you grew up in Kansas City, chances are you have visited Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead. This popular attraction emulated a real working turn of the century farm. Home to over 200 different animals, a fishing pond and vegetable and flower gardens, the Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead seeks no only to entertain, but educate kids about farm life. In the month of October, visit Pumpkin Hollow within the Farmstead. Children are invited to enjoy one of the largest pumpkin patches in Kansas. Nearer to Halloween, enjoy the Night of the Living Farm event that includes a fairy princess party, horse-drawn wagon rides and Halloween dancing stage.


Halloween Haunt – Worlds of Fun, Kansas City, MO

Fall isn’t just about pumpkins and apples. For those that love the feeling of shivers up and down your spine, make sure to visit Worlds of Fun Halloween Haunt. A theme park with traditional midway during the spring and summer month, Worlds of Fun turns into an eerie destination in the fall. Open Friday and Saturday nights through October 27th, the Halloween Haunt at Worlds of Fun offers all your favorite high-speed rides with a scary twist. Instead of bright lights, music and colors the midways are dark and misty in the evening light. Try to avoid (or find!) the 400 monsters roaming around the park. Worlds of Fun recommends buying tickets online and does not recommend this attraction for visitors under 14. 



Macabre Cinema Haunted House – Downtown Kansas City, MO

Amusement parks are great, but sometimes you want to get your heart racing, in a good way. Look no further than the Macabre Cinema Haunted House on the southeast corner of 12th and Mulberry street in downtown Kansas City. It takes about 45 minutes to an hour to walk through the “haunted 1930s movie theatre”, but every minute is guaranteed to give you a genuine fright. Experience over 30 dramatic scenes across 4 floors from contemporary and classic horror films. Go down into the dungeon for an extra dose of horror. Elaborate set design, exceptional lighting and over-the-top costuming come to life through the actors at Macabre Cinema Haunted House.
